Say 'welcome to Australia' to refugee and asylum seeker children.
Your donations of school bags, drink bottles and lunch boxes will make a big difference in Melbourne.
West Welcome Wagon is a volunteer-run not-for-profit that provides material aid and support to asylum seekers in Melbourne's west. They assist over 500 households of asylum seekers from more than 30 different countries, providing them with good quality donated items such as furniture, bedding, clothing, children’s toys, appliances and kitchenware.
Items requested in this project are part of our Back to School Appeal.
Donations of school bags, drink bottles and lunch boxes/food storage containers are the items especially requested by West Welcome Wagon to help the kids and families they support.
100% of the money received by GIVIT for this project will be used to purchase back to school items for refugee and asylum seeker children in Melbourne to help them start the new school year on the front foot. To donate, simply click the link, then write Back to school items for refugee and asylum seeker children' in the comments section.
Alternatively, you can use the new 'FUND' button to donate the money for GIVIT to buy the exact items needed. $10 buys a drink bottle or lunch box for a young child, and $20 gets them a school bag. Click the 'donate school items' link above and then look for the 'FUND' button. It's easy!
Donation of iPads to refugees
GIVIT partners with numerous charities across the country, who support the health and well-being of refugees, whether newly arrived or working to build their lives in Australia. To coincide with National Refugee Week, we were delighted to coordinate a request for two iPads made by the Red Cross in the ACT.
