Your support is needed to help vulnerable students impacted by recent bushfire continue on their recovery. The school these students attend is searching for donations of Djembe drums, to deliver a ‘resilience through rhythm' program.
I work in a student support role at a coeducational public high school on the NSW South Coast. Our 650+ students are living with the impacts of trauma following the ‘Black Summer’ bushfires which affected our area. Our school has a high population of Aboriginal students. I am committed to supporting their engagement and retention in education, while also supporting the social and emotional needs of all students, particularly following the challenges they have faced this year.
DRUMBEAT is a strength-based evidence informed program which builds ‘resilience through rhythm’. It is a hands-on innovative program proven to improve social, emotional and educational outcomes for young people. I’m seeking help to source Djembe drums, so that I can deliver DRUMBEAT to our most vulnerable students now and into the future.
