Team up with your work colleagues, school mates, sports team or family and host a Christmas donation drive of food and toiletries to help international students who are unable to get home and not entitled to welfare payments.
Non-perishable food and toiletries for students impacted by COVID-19
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many students have lost their jobs. This has particularly impacted international and other students who are unable to receive any form of welfare payments from the government. The Christmas period will be especially difficult for these vulnerable people.
In Canberra, ‘Our Food Pantry’ is appealing for non-perishable food items, essential toiletries and/or grocery gift cards to help support students in their studies and to alleviate some of the worry associated with being unable to afford these items.
By students being able to receive these types of items and not needing to worry about how they are going to afford these without a job, they will be able to put their time and effort in focusing on their studies so that they do not become disadvantaged from struggling to succeed.
There is a huge amount of food and toiletries needed.
Please consider joining forces with your book club, sport team, work colleagues, school, church, or group of friends to GIVIT Together and help get food and toiletries to the students who need them most.
When we GIVIT Together, we have incredible impact.
