This mental health facility for young people is having a backyard blitz, and they need your help!
Got a green thumb? Your donations of gardening supplies will do the world of good this Christmas. Potting mix, turf, clean fill, sand - they need the lot!
CatholicCare STEPS (Supporting young people Through Early intervention and Prevention Strategies) is a voluntary mental health residential program. STEPS supports teenagers aged 13 - 18 who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues for up to three months. These issues are often caused by trauma or family dynamics.
Participants are involved in a range of social and therapeutic activities, and are supported to develop skills and resources to manage health and emotional wellbeing in the future.
STEPS is seeking community support to renovate their underutilised outdoor area. Although an important space, it's in urgent need of some TLC. STEPS are seeking donations of a range of gardening supplies including plants, pitting mix, clean fill and other materials for their outdoor makeover.
Research has overwhelmingly shown links between spending time outdoors and improved mental health. Once complete, this garden will be the perfect space
Once complete, the garden will be the perfect space for residents to have some quiet time to themselves, participate in gardening or art therapy, to meet with staff and service providers, or to spend time with their families or therapy dogs.
Your generous donation will help CatholicCare STEPS create an outdoor environment that is safe, peaceful and inviting for teenagers who are having a tough time.
