Help rough sleepers on the Gold Coast get settled into their new homes
Tenants at this new public housing development will be arriving with no possessions. They need your help.
The Department of Housing has built a new 20-unit public housing development on Queensland's Gold Coast, and this community housing organisation has been tasked with finding tenants, and providing them on-site support and maintenance services.
The prospective tenants will be a mixture of long term homeless, rough sleepers, and people and families escaping domestic and family violence. Most of them will be moving into these properties with no possessions of their own.
Your donation will help this organisation make the transition easier for new arrivals, and help vulnerable people turn their new houses into homes.
While the community organisation has been able to source whitegoods and appliances already, there are still a range of items urgently needed before tenants move in at the end of July. Requested items include:
- Cooking pots and pans
- Double quilts with covers
- Pillows (new only)
- Cutlery sets
- Crockery sets
- Two-seater lounge suites
- Double beds (bases and mattresses)
You can donate money to purchase any of the above items by using the FUND button. From $5 for a cutlery set, to $695 for double bed base and mattress, whatever you can spare will make a difference. 100% of your FUND donation received by GIVIT will be used to purchase the exact items needed for vulnerable people moving into this community housing development.
