Donate children's shoes to help underprivileged kids in Cairns get back to school
Local schools say not having school shoes is the number one reason for non-attendance
This community organisation supports disadvantaged locals across Far North Queensland. Each year the organisation runs a back-to-school initiative in the form of a pop-up shop offering free school supplies and uniforms to people in need. In 2020 the initiative helped more than 1000 families and 2000 children get back to school, but ran out of school shoes to distribute early on in the program.
During consultation with schools across the region, not having shoes was identified as being the primary reason for non-attendance at school.
Donate shoes
The organisation is seeking donations of boy's and girl's black school shoes and runners, including sizes to fit primary school and high school-aged children.
Donate money
100% of the money received by GIVIT for this project will be used to buy shoes for kids in Cairns to help them get back to school. To donate, simply click the link, then write 'School shoes for disadvantaged kids in Cairns' in the comments section.
Alternatively, you can use the new 'FUND' button to donate the money for GIVIT to purchase the exact shoes needed. A $50 donation means a child receives a brand new, comfy pair of schoes that fit perfectly. Click the 'donate shoes' link above and then look for the 'FUND' button. It's easy!
The shoes requested in this project are part of our Back to School Appeal.
