This participant is a 59-year-old Deaf woman who has spent most of her life living in residential and supported care. She has recently achieved the significant milestone of moving into her own independent home for the first time, allowing her to experience greater independence, choice, and dignity.
As she establishes her new home, she is working hard to create a safe and comfortable living environment but has very limited household furniture. One of her most urgent needs is a bed and mattress, as she currently does not have appropriate sleeping arrangements.
A donated bed and mattress would have an immediate and lasting impact on her health, comfort, and wellbeing. It would provide her with a safe place to sleep and support her to continue living independently, making this new chapter in her life both sustainable and successful.
