This strong and resilient single mum is doing her absolute best to care for her four young children — including a newborn just one month old — while living in a cramped two-bedroom apartment.
She came to Australia in 2023 as a refugee, escaping family and domestic violence in her home country. With limited English and no local support network, she has faced overwhelming challenges while trying to create a safe and stable life for her family.
We’ve been supporting this mum since she was four months pregnant, advocating for secure housing through Housing. Sadly, despite ongoing efforts, no suitable housing has been offered.
Right now, she’s not only recovering from childbirth but is also struggling to afford basic groceries and essentials for her children. Her only income is from Centrelink, which barely covers her family’s needs.
