Recipient story

Young family at risk of homelessness as they struggle to find affordable housing
2025 Tropical Cyclone Alfred
GIVIT
Domestic & Family Violence
Young family with 5 month old baby struggling to find affordable accommodation. Have been in current rental for 2 years but house requires significant repairs following damage from Cyclone Alfred. Family have limited informal supports and young mother has significant trauma history having fled a DV relationship, she suffers with panic disorder and CPTSD as a result, DV perpetrator was jailed for his actions. Having to move has exacerbated mental health due to concerns of having to leave the home - her 'safe place'. Partner is looking for work, only has casual position as he's been required to be home to help support partner and care for their baby.
Any assistance to provide relief in the way of vouchers, winter clothing for baby etc. to assist the family to save to move and provide for their daughter would be greatly appreciated. , Will also need furniture items as house was partly furnished upon entry.
Very independent young couple who cannot seen to catch a break.
