Recipient story

A family violence victim survivor woman needs help
Domestic & Family Violence
GIVIT
Ready to Learn
A woman, a mother of two-year-old child recently separated from her husband as she could not tolerate the violence perpetrated by her husband. The woman has gone through physical, verbal and emotional abuse from the perpetrator, and the perpetrator has denied the paternity of the child making the woman situation more vulnerable.
The woman was initially fully depended on the perpetrator for everything and now she is trying her best to defeat all challenges and gain independence over her live.
Woman requested support to get her driver license as she faces difficulties in accessing public transport. She failed the driving test few weeks ago, but with a positive mind she is looking forward to doing the driving test again. If someone can support the client to access driving lessons, that would make positive impact on the woman.

How it's helped before

[We assisted] a woman who had four children in primary school this year, she shared that she was worried about ensuring they all had what they needed and felt equally included, so the [GIVIT donations] really helped to lift that concern. Some women brought their children with them [to collect donations] and faces just lit up as they chose their lunchboxes and backpacks and packed their pencil cases.
