Family living upstairs in flood affected home have no kitchen, living areas and 1 bedroom
Since being flooded in the February/March event this family have experienced a number of hardships. The father is currently receiving intensive cancer treatment, unable to work in his small business and therefore household finances have taken a big hit. All of their essential and a lot of their daughters personal items were lost and her bedroom and bedroom furniture destroyed. They are living without a kitchen and living area. Six months since the flood and their insurance claim has still not been resolved and they have had to seek assistance from a legal aid service which is creating ongoing stress for the parents needing to reassess what their future looks like. Bearing the responsibility of the recovery while her husband is unwell is having an extreme financial and emotional toll on the mother as she tries to get their home back into a functional and comfortable state to aid her husbands recovery as well.
