Rebuilding and celebrating social connection after natural disaster through community space
The refurbishment of the old local building is a collaboration of 2 not for profit organisations whose joint vision is to provide a vibrant space for community connection, creativity and engagement.
In April 2021 Tropical Cyclone Seroja swept through the small regional community of Mingenew. Businesses and families were impacted and are still rebuilding and clearing the devastation to this day over 12 months later.
Natural disaster can have a long lasting effect on health and wellbeing, impacting financially and how we feel in our homes and lives after.
This is a space for community to join in activities and workshops, take a moment in the lounge, ponder the gallery, enjoy a book from the exchange and a place to rest between jobs with little ones. A TV and router would allow us to connect over zoom with others, provide educational information sessions eg Youtube activities for our school holiday activities when we cannot get a facilitator into our town. A place for all.
