First Nation family experiencing economic hardship due to inter-generational effects of stolen children and wages.
This Aboriginal mother of three is working with our Service to build skills to regain control of her finances, break harmful debt cycles and feel more positive about her own, and her children's financial future. She grew up in a family who were directly affected by the Stolen Generations and did not have the opportunity to learn the skills needed to manage money. She is currently experiencing trouble sleeping and health issues associated with ongoing financial hardship and stress and is really worried about her children missing out on the opportunities to develop good money management skills. It is still early in the pathway to financial resilience and wellbeing and the client is feeling overwhelmed with the amount of debt she has and is feeling like she will never be able to get ahead. In addition to our ongoing support to help her regain control of her finances, GIVIT may help her to feel more positive about what she can achieve and the journey ahead.
