73 year old Afghan national on temporary protection visa with limited support

Dear wonderful people,

I am currrently supporting an elderly Afghan Hazara man who lived in Australia with no bridging visa or Medicare card for just over 10 years until a temporary protection visa was granted earlier this year. This allows him to access a very reduced age care benefit that is at a much lower rate than a permanent resident or Australian citzen. The mans wife and family have fled to Pakistan and Iran and are unable to support him financially as their circumstances are also very difficult given they also have no rights to live in these neighbouring countries. The man lives in a share house with 4 other younger Hazara men who are also living with their wives and children in similar situations. Whilst the man doesn't celebrate Christmas we would like to provide him with a voucher to support his very limited income and means of family support as this will enable him to buy clothing and special foods that he'd normally go without.
