Elderly couple wanting to restart their arts and crafts small business after the Kimberley floods

In January 2023 the Kimberley region of WA was hit hard by Ex-TC Ellie, displacing many from their homes, causing financial distress, with a loss of family and cultural connections.

Being unable to connect with family, country and culture has been incredibly difficult for everyone within the Fitzroy Valley and wider Kimberley region. With the new bridge built at Fitzroy Crossing, those connections are now being remade.

This couple lost everything in the flooding event, including their income from an arts and craft business. They lost all of their supplies and now need to start again from nothing. This has had a significant impact on their mental health and finances. With their forever home nearly ready to move into they are turning their attention to furnishings and supplies for their business. They look forward to once again being able to do projects that they love, and selling their creations at the local Kimberley markets.
