Support for a temporary homeless shelter supporting people with complex needs

We operate a temporary homeless shelter with 15 rooms for people with complex needs. They come from various backgrounds who do not fit the criteria of local homeless services and without our service would otherwise be sleeping rough, in tents or swags on the foreshore or in their cars if they have one. We try to provide an environment that offers holistic support and allows the client to build strength and develop relationships with services to work towards permanent housing.

The shelter is an old run down motel which is to be redeveloped at some stage into a luxury hotel and the landlord has kindly let us use it for free while plans are made, however the hidden costs are exhausting, especially with rising cost pressures after COVID - the water and power bills etc , as well as emergency maintenance and repairs of the old building. Residents do pay a fee, but we aren't covering costs. We desperately need to replace linen in the rooms and would be grateful for support.
