Flood impacted in May 2022, (farmer impacted by cumulative disasters).

Single elderly man who lives alone at farm an hour south of Laidley. Was impacted in the Black Summer Bushfires. This fire followed a period of serious drought that had already dwindled his savings. He lost fencing, sheds and equipment during the fires but was ineligible for any significant grants. The November 21 and February 22 floods washed away his fences and and saw him cut off from the community for weeks at a time. He fixed the fences himself each time, with very little financial support provided to him. A phone call to check in on him after the latest floods revealed he is doing it very tough. He has been hit again by the May 22 floods last week seeing him cut off and alone in trying to fix fences and repair damage. He is now worried about the structural integrity of his house as the foundations have been continuously eroded. This farmer rarely asks for help but has been continually hit by natural disaster after natural disaster. He faces intense emotional and financial stress
