About the role
GIVIT is recruiting a full-time permanent Engagement Officer, reporting to the QLD/NT Manager. Your varied work week will see you focused on areas of greatest need, making a difference locally and across the state. Via virtual engagement mostly but also face to face, you will build relationships with councils, charities and community organisations, and facilitate donation administration of goods and services to meet community need. You’ll be a key member of GIVIT's team, effectively facilitating donations of goods and services through the GIVIT digital platform to meet needs, particularly after natural disaster events.
You will get to:
- Coordinate with community organisations, NGOs and local councils, to ensure needs are identified and met quickly
- Provide digital platform support to process donation requests and assist with troubleshooting
- Deliver hands-on training, workshops, and 1:1 support to local recovery staff and organisations to build their capacity to use the GIVIT platform effectively
- Contribute to local recovery meetings and planning groups
- Improve processes to support the fast provision of donated goods
- Promote awareness of available support mechanisms and the GIVIT platform
- Maintain strong and effective relationships with GIVIT stakeholders including state and local governments, recovery agencies, charity networks and corporate donors.
- Work with GIVIT's Marketing team to raise awareness of GIVIT and GIVIT's programs.
Skills and experience you possess:
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building positive relationships
- Ability to bring a caring and empathetic approach to your work
- Excellent digital literacy and confidence in learning and teaching new platforms
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and changing environment
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience in disaster recovery, community development, or local service coordination would be highly regarded.
Other requirements:
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within QLD
- National police check (or willingness to obtain at your cost)
- Reliable internet connection and home office setup (for hybrid roles)
