Lost job as a truck driver following a mental health breakdown
Mr. T.H. moved into Havelock House January 2025 after losing his job as a truck driver following a mental health crisis, compounded by a long history of drug use. He had just completed residential rehab but shared that sobriety remained a daily battle. Not long after moving in, he experienced a relapse and asked the tenancy team for help. He was linked with a local day rehab program, which he attended consistently. He also began going to a local church, finding strength and structure there. Though he missed life on the road, licensing issues made returning to truck driving difficult. The team encouraged him to try interim work, and he secured a general labourer job, which he committed to with reliability. Through steady work and improved finances, he recently bought a car—both a practical step and a symbol of progress. His journey shows the power of persistence, support, and recovery, one day at a time.
