She grew up in a highly disadvantaged and vulnerable environment, shaped by her mother’s long-term battle with addiction that began before she was born. Living with silent brain seizures, depression, and chronic PTSD, she faced significant barriers from a young age. These challenges led to disengagement from school, declining mental health, and eventually homelessness.
Over the past 12 months, she has shown remarkable determination and strength. She has taken control of her mental health, and begun shaping a positive future as an independent person. She obtained her Blue Card and stepped into a leadership role at a youth camp, gained her learner’s licence, and re-enrolled in school to complete Year 12 next year. Her goal is to become a police officer after graduation.
