Seeking support for a client who lost all of her belongings in the 2022 flood. Since then, she has experienced periods of homelessness, including living in her van, but has remained determined to rebuild stability.
She was later able to get a new couch, but when she became homeless again it had to be placed in storage. Earlier this year, during Tropical Cyclone Alfred, her storage shed leaked and the couch became wet and mouldy, leaving her without suitable furniture.
The client has now been offered a pod in a temporary housing village, which is a positive step forward after a long period of instability. However, the pod is not furnished. A lounge and a double mattress would greatly assist her in setting up a safe and comfortable home environment for both herself and her granddaughter, who stays with her regularly.
