A mother and baby to be reunified when a safe home is established, needing furniture for home
Domestic & Family Violence
GIVIT
The mother of three young children recently escaped FDV from her partner but moved into her mother’s house, where she continued to experience violence. The department removed her baby for safety and placed him 121km away until she can secure a safe home. This distance has caused immense stress and fractured the mother–baby bond. Without a car, she struggles to find transport, leaving visits minimal. She now has a Department of Communities house but no furniture. She has been buying items gradually each pay but cannot afford larger essentials such as a fridge, washing machine, dryer, beds, couch, and dining set. The department will assist with baby items upon his return but not with her household furniture, leaving her striving to create a safe, stable home for her children. The mother resides in a semi-rural town where supplies are limited. Items will need to be purchased in nearby bigger towns like Albany and delivered to her new home.
