Recipient story

A mother and her son are couch surfing after a relationship breakdown. Seeking stable housing and support to rebuild.
First Nations Support
GIVIT
A single mother currently couch surfing with her young son after being forced to give up her private rental when her relationship ended. Unable to afford the rent alone due to existing debt, she now moves between her father's home - where alcohol misuse creates instability - and her best friend's unit in a high-density complex, where safety and noise are ongoing concerns. Her son struggles with disrupted sleep and confusion about their living situation, though he finds comfort attending childcare two days a week. She has recently applied for HACT but is still awaiting assessment. She's not connected to many services and is seeking material aid while they navigate this challenging time. She is determined to create long-term stability, hoping to return to work and possibly study once secure housing is established and childcare becomes more accessible. Support will help this rebuild safety, routine, and opportunity.
