Family of 5 children x2 with special needs impacted by the Victorian Storm event experiencing severe financial hardship
Resident lives in rental property with partner and 5 children ages 6-12years. The family experienced a power outage and food spoilage which impacted the large family significantly. The resident lost her employment shortly after the storm event. Both she and partner are now unemployed and receive Centrelink benefits. Weekly food shopping is beyond their current budget as are specialist medical assessments, The family are unable to afford car repairs required and currently do not have a driveable vehicle. Bus travel to and from school with 5 young children is an added expense and is both extremely time consuming and stressful. Two of the children are diagnosed with special needs and specialist appointments will become unmanageable until they can afford vehicle repairs. The family are experiencing severe financial hardship and are unable to meet their family’s basic needs. Grocery and Kmart vouchers would greaty relieve financial distress at this time.
