With limited English and no employment, the family survives on Centrelink payments. Rent is $760/week; they are eight weeks in arrears and struggling with overdue utility bills.
His wife has spinal degeneration, diabetes, and high blood pressure. His daughter has a developmental disability and seizures. Caring responsibilities mean he and his son cannot work. A rent increase and the threat of “action being taken” push them closer to homelessness.
