The patients of our Psychiatric Unit come to the ward, typically, with no notice or warning that they are in the midst of a mental health crisis. They experience what is sometimes the lowest point of their life and we want to support them through their recovery.
Mental health services have always run at a stretched capacity, but the COVID-19 pandemic has meant that our patients have faced even greater hardships including job losses and financial/familial strain. No one wants to experience mental ill-health, especially in the restricted environment such as the inpatient ward. #outdoorplayequipment
The nurses and allied health team put a great deal of effort into creating fun activities. We are hoping for some gender neutral, non-religious items as we provide mental health care for every kind of human at this ward.
