Young man diagnosed with lymphoma and leukaemia whilst struggling with homelessness and addiction.
His mother had a sudden move from overseas to Australia to be with him during his treatment. He will receive ongoing intensive chemotherapy for the coming months and remain unwell.
They have recently moved into secure housing but have next to no belongings: no furniture, whitegoods, linen, appliances or cookware. They are sleeping on air mattresses and do not have sufficient bedding or a heater for the winter.
They are both unable to work at the moment and receive minimum government benefits.
They have a limited support network and are struggling to live day to day navigating severe illness with minimal resources and comforts.
We are supporting them to build some stability and sustainability with basic living necessities and comforts.
