Client has been financially supporting his partner since 2018 and caring for her physical and mental health care needs since 2023. Due to client’s partner not being a permanent resident, she is ineligible to receive Government assistance. Client’s partner is 61 years of age.
Client’s partner has ongoing medical conditions including bowel cancer, stroke, blindness, incontinence and is bedridden.
Client is currently paying off approximately $60k of medical expenses and has ongoing medical expenses of approximately $300 per month.
Client’s partner cannot return to Hong Kong as her medical conditions prevent her from travelling and she has no family to support her financially or attend to her care needs.
Client has had to reduce his work hours to care for his partner; they are living solely off his income which has now been reduced; their rent and bond has recently increased thus placing them in further financial hardship.
