An 18-year-old overcoming illness and homelessness is rebuilding stability and preparing to return to study.
This young person is 18 years old and lives with chronic fatigue and chronic widespread pain. After being forced to leave the family home, they experienced a period of housing instability and spent 3 months in emergency accommodation while managing their health conditions. Recently, they received life-changing news when they were offered a two-year placement in transitional accommodation, providing stability, safety, and an opportunity to begin rebuilding their independence. In addition to securing housing, they have been offered the chance to re-engage with education and plans to commence a Certificate III in Pathology Collection in April 2026. Despite these barriers, they remain motivated and hopeful about creating a better future. As they prepare to transition back into study after a prolonged period of instability, access to appropriate tools and resources will be essential to support her learning, manage her health needs, and maintain engagement with education.
