Flooding 2022
This man and his now 14 year old son were severely flooded during the 2022 Lismore floods. The dad swam from the flooded house on a surfboard, having earlier taken his son to safety.
After the flood the dad repaired the house the best he could, using mainly second hand and free materials to get the job done.
Unfortunately, due to multiple post-flood home break-ins and harassment, they were forced to leave their community and the home of 19 years, and move into shared rental accommodation in another town.
Three and a half years since the flood both father and son still carry debilitating anxiety and trauma. The son struggles at school, while his dad has been unable to move ahead and build a new safe and secure family life.
Financially they struggle to make ends meet, and support at this time of year would certainly brighten up their lives.
