Our service is supporting an Aboriginal grandmother who is caring for seven grandchildren. She has taken care of three young grandchildren at short notice as her daughter is currently unable to care. This has significantly increased her care load and she does receive any additional financial assistance.
Two of the children in the home live with disability and have additional care needs - including developmental delay and a rare genetic disorder.
Grandmother's television recently stopped working and she urgently requires another but does not have the means to buy one. Television provides the opportunity for learning and entertainment with ABC and NITV educational programs for the older children.
