Rural NSW family with single mum and two young girls, who are both neurodivergent and have additional support needs. Having experienced a life full of trauma and hardship herself, Mum is fighting hard to provide a better life for her kids. Mum works tirelessly to provide for them, but is limited to being able to work around school and preschool hours which creates significant financial stress. This stress is particularly magnified around the holidays when school and daycare close. She also has to travel long distances to take the girls to much-needed healthcare appointments, further creating financial strain due to high fuel costs, and reducing her availability to work. With her little one starting school next year and all the added expenses involved (uniforms, backpack, books, stationery), Mum is worried she won’t be able to provide any extra Christmas presents for her girls this year.
