Rural family facing yet another sudden and devastating cancer battle while caring for kids with complex developmental needs
A vulnerable family from rural western NSW is facing an overwhelming crisis. They travelled to Sydney so their two children could receive assessments for complex developmental needs, with both parents fully involved in supporting them. During this trip, Mum suddenly became unwell and was admitted to hospital, where scans revealed advanced brain cancer. She is now stranded in Sydney receiving urgent treatment. This is her second battle with cancer. Dad is caring for both children alone while trying to navigate their developmental needs and the emotional impact of their mother’s diagnosis. He is travelling back and forth between home and Sydney to try and keep the children engaged in their education, and also support Mum. The family has lost both incomes, and the cost of medical care, travel, and extended time away from home has placed them under immense financial strain. Support through GIVIT would provide critical relief during an unimaginably difficult time.
