An elderly resident living alone with his dog, who was affected in the Feb 2024 storms, has had a run of bad luck.
Elderly resident on the aged pension, was affected in Feb 2024 storm with multiple trees down and some left standing causing dangerous situations, which were re-affected in the recent storms and winds. However, he has had an unrelated issue with his bathroom with a leaking toilet, which his insurance has agreed to cover. However, the insurance sent contractor to check and assess the job and while there they tried to turn off the water in the laundry for the washing machine tap, where the resident had already turned the tap off, as they always do, the contractor over turned the tap and broke it, causing water the pour out, the contractor turn the mains water off and left stating the insurance will send someone. The insurance later stated this wasn’t their issue and the resident will have to repair themselves with a private plumber, this left the resident with a $400 repair bill. The resident now can’t afford to buy food for himself or his best friend, his Kelpie cross.
Thank you
