Our client has a diagnosed learning disability and experiences significant social challenges, including difficulties with communication, interpersonal interactions, and navigating daily tasks. These challenges have, at times, contributed to misunderstandings and conflicts with others. Her interactions in the community have occasionally resulted in involvement with the law and ongoing disputes with neighbours. As a result, she often requires additional support to manage her relationships, advocate for herself, and engage safely and appropriately with services and those around her. She is currently receiving disability benefits and cannot afford to purchase a new dryer. Her companion dog had been sleeping on top of the unit, causing it to fall from the wall, which resulted in the door breaking and the dryer no longer turning on. The repair cost is roughly equivalent to the price of a replacement, which is beyond her financial means.
