A young mother of a 17-month-old daughter is currently experiencing significant financial and emotional hardship. Her partner, who works casually in a seasonal industry, is currently out of work due to the off-season, leaving the family with little to no income. This has placed immense pressure on her as she tries to manage the household with very limited resources.
The family lives on a rundown farm with her partner’s elderly father, whose declining health has made it difficult to maintain the property. In addition to caring for her toddler, she has taken on the responsibility of supporting and looking after her father-in-law, which adds to the physical and emotional demands she faces daily.
The combination of financial stress, isolation, and the overwhelming responsibilities of caregiving and parenting has severely impacted her mental health. She has reached out for help, expressing feelings of exhaustion and being emotionally overwhelmed.
