Recipient story

35 year old Indigenous man breaking the cycle in more ways than one.
First Nations Support
GIVIT
35-year-old Indigenous man investing in breaking the cycle of mental health stigmatization through self-improvement. It has come to the point of his journey where he has worked through his own mental health challenges, built up his capacity to engage in community through volunteering with a community church that delivers homeless services. Now ready to take the next step to gainful employment.

After much self-reflection, consideration and hard work, he has identified that he can align his skills, strengths and ability to further contribute to his community, through barbering. Wanting to invest in his skills but however faces associated costs. Needing support to be able to invest in a barbering kit being over $900. This is unachievable on a government funded pension and is seeking support for grocery vouchers to ensure his basic needs are met whilst he invests in himself and his community.

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.

Thank you for your generous gesture & much needed support GIVIT.
