Single mum with three children has recently requested a referral to Foodbank, which has helped her tremendously. Mum works but is struggling financially to provide for the needs of her family due to some ongoing medical needs. One child has a health care card due to her diagnosis. Another child requires regular visits for MRIs in Perth from regional WA to monitor the growth of a tumour on her spine. This has meant further hardship due to travel, accommodation, and having to take leave from work. The tumour on the child's spine is unable to be biopsied due to it's position. Mum shared with me today about her car sliding on the roads last weekend when she had to travel so has needed to get four new tyres this week as she heads to Perth on Sunday for the MRI testing.
This mum never asks for support, but it is obvious to the Chaplain that some relief would be thankfully received.
