A single mother of four has been experiencing homelessness since mid-last year, after fleeing a situation of domestic violence involving her former partner. Since then, she has been navigating the housing system in search of long-term stability for herself and her children, though this has proven extremely challenging.
Despite the many barriers she has faced, she has shown incredible resilience and determination. Upon re-engaging with support services, she worked tirelessly to compete in the private rental market—self-funding accommodation in Footscray while attending daily inspections. Each day, she would travel up to an hour to take her children to school, attend inspections, and then return to the motel with them.
After months of perseverance, she has finally secured a safe and stable home for her family. While she has now moved into the property, she is in need of essential items to help create a comfortable and functional living environment for her and her children.
