This single mother and her Autistic son were made homeless in the 2022 floods in Lismore and have been rehomed, however rent prices have gone up with all the flood maintenance and with her own mental health struggles and having to home school her son. The single parenting pension only just covers rent and basic food needs. Christmas is a very triggering and sad time for the small family due to the financial hardship.
