The woman has experienced a long history of significant family violence perpetrated by her former husband, with whom she shares four children. She endured years of abuse and instability, repeatedly escaping with her children and relocating across multiple countries before being resettled in Australia through UNICEF. She eventually ended this relationship but has continued to face significant financial hardship while raising her children independently.
At present, she does not have employment and receives Centrelink payment. She is currently residing in accommodation for which she pays rent to her former partner. She needs help to buy furniture for her house and for her kids because she is unable to afford any by herself.
