As we move towards the Christmas period life gets a little hectic and more stress is added to the lives of the people our organisation supports. Christmas is a hard period of time for a lot of people with the need to give all children a great Christmas, and the burden falls hard on the parents. Also, during the two-week period of Christmas and New Year majority of services that are normally available to walk ins who need help with fuel vouchers and groceries are closed, so families have nowhere to go for this provision. Vouchers put in a small hamper to assist will ensure this situation does not happen for this person. The provision of a small Christmas hamper is not something our organisation is funded to do and so we rely on donations to assist us to assist the people we support.

Client and 4 and 1-year old girls (2) finding it hard adjusting after a period of transient homelessness and now housed with a homelessness service.
She has been adapting to her new lifestyle and is paying her rent and paying off her bond, but this is all new to her and she is struggling with the budgeting. Her struggle currently is with buying enough food for the three of them. She also is very prideful and did not let me know until she had struggled through Easter with only enough for her precious children. She also told me she decided to borrow $100 from her family to support her through. I am setting her up with some budgeting skills, which includes tips and tasks to assist in the longer term. I believe she is very capable young lady and will in the longer term be able to cope.
I believe Christmas will be a trying time with emergency relief services closed for a period and vouchers for food and fuel would assist.

How it's helped before

I am writing to personally thank 'GIVIT' for a generous 'Simply Groceries eGift card' voucher that I was gifted, with $100 worth of essential spending money for my family & I to utilise at our own discretion. I can happily report this donation has assisted the purchase of a basic, solo, wifi security camera, with the excess going toward food for my teenage daughter who is currently taken on responsibilities around our home while I recover in a rehabilitation centre. Thank you for this kind gesture, as it has helped to improve security measures around our home & support my daughter to purchase daily essential items such as groceries, basic hygiene & cleaning products.
