Many Stolen Generations Survivors continue to live with the long-term effects of being separated from family, culture and Country. Christmas can be a challenging time, as it often brings up memories of those experiences alongside the importance of being with family today.
Many Survivors are on low incomes or managing health issues, and some support extended family on limited resources. Even with these pressures, they remain strongly connected to their families and communities, and Christmas is an important time for them to come together with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Providing support at this time helps make it easier for Elders to share the season with their families and participate in celebrations without added stress. It contributes to a Christmas centred on connection, cultural strength and time together.
