A volunteer-led community group for youth aged 5-25 with over half under-18 coming from low income families
GIVIT
Boys and girls aged 5-25 learn life skills and responsible independence through a program of outdoor-focused activities.
The Group exists to:
Foster friendship and inclusion by bringing kids and families together from diverse backgrounds
Build life skills through teamwork, leadership, problem solving, and resilience that benefits the whole community
Support mental health through promoting wellbeing and confidence in young people
Promote responsible behaviour as our code emphasises honesty, respect, and responsibility, which contributes to a safer, more respectful community
Of our 69 youth members, 55% receive support from the State Government to join due to their low-income status (and may not be able to participate without it).
Our rationale for seeking external support is keeping fees as low to ensure maximum youth participation, and subsidising activities to ensure they are not cost prohibitive for families.
