My client is an asylum seeker who does not have work rights in Australia. Due to not being permitted to work, she is entirely reliant on charity. She has reached a desperate level of financial crisis. She is in rental arrears as charities have been unable to pay her rent and is at risk of homelessness. In order to collect food parcels and attend her counselling appointments, she needs to use a car. She is struggling to pay for fuel, groceries, mobile phone costs and car registration. She is experiencing severe depression at present. She is also experiencing health issues. Any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
