She has been in social housing the entirety of her life.
Due to relationship breakdown and conflict she was no longer able to safely live in that residence and was taken to a short term refuge where she remained for 10 months and experienced an incredibly hostile environment due to the shared spaces, frequently having her belongings stolen, her children being handled by strangers and feeling unable to parent in her own way.
The refuge moved her into transitional housing on a 14–16-month lease.
Her current accommodation in in a high rise building which is not suitable for her young children and is especially worrying as her daughter has just gotten her cast taken off and iis at risk of developing knock knee.
Her son also has medical needs after developing eczema from third-degree burns which is prone to flare up due to the heat in the apartment that accumulates from poor ventilation.
She wants her children to grow up without the same fears that have been plaguing her and feel safe.
