Emergency Relief supports individuals at risk of or experiencing homelessness. During appointments, clients receive help accessing food hampers, financial counselling, Centrelink support, and crisis services like accommodation. However, accessing these services requires the ability to make phone calls and receive emails, which can be a significant barrier for those without reliable technology. This lack of access makes it challenging for service providers to maintain contact and offer continuous support. For those sleeping rough, technology is a crucial protective factor, enabling them to reach emergency services or contact family and friends. Addressing these technological barriers is essential to improve their connection with support services, enhancing their chances of receiving timely and effective assistance, and supporting long-term recovery and stability.
