Single mother living 2 children at risk of homelessness
Single mother residing with her two children, aged 16 and 5. The family is currently engaged with our program, an early-intervention case management service that supports individuals and families at risk of homelessness. Client sought support from our program due to the high risk of entering rental arrears and experiencing tenancy instability. Although she is employed full-time as a Childcare Educator, her wages are insufficient to cover all essential living expenses and maintain financial stability. Recently, client experienced a significant reduction in her Centrelink income as a result of eligibility changes, leaving her with minimal income from this source. In addition to this loss of income, client is required to manage several essential financial commitments, including car registration, car loan repayments, school fees, and general household expenses. The cumulative impact of these pressures has placed the family at substantial risk of homelessness.
