$20 contribution to medical equipment

West End QLD 4101

Flocare Infinity pump - $2696.75, Flocare Infinity Universal Frame - $165, Nutricia Flocare Infinity Go Bag - $136.77. She has severe feeding difficulties due to low muscle tone, narrow airways, and poor oral coordination. She is unable to safely eat or drink enough to meet her nutritional needs. At home, she is fed through gravity feeding, which often causes vomiting due to the fast flow of formula. This method is also time-consuming and physically demanding, requiring a caregiver to hold a syringe above her head for 45–60 minutes per feed. It is messy, stressful, and limits her mobility and comfort. A Nutricia Flocare Infinity Feeding Pump would provide safe, precise, and steady feeding at a controlled rate, significantly improving her feeding tolerance and reducing vomiting. The pump is portable and allows for flexible feeding schedules, such as overnight feeds, while reducing the burden on caregivers. We kindly request assistance in providing this feeding pump to support her essential nutritional needs and overall wellbeing. Having access to this equipment will also help her to get prepared for entering a school environment next year.

Recipient story

5-year-old girl with Down syndrome experiencing severe feeding difficulties
GIVIT
Ready to Learn
Christmas 2025
A 5-year-old girl diagnosed with Down syndrome is experiencing severe feeding difficulties. Her oral intake is very limited—she can only manage small amounts of soft food, which provide less than 15% of her daily nutritional needs. To meet her nutrition goals, she relies on a supplement (currently Pediasure + Fibre).

Due to illness, medical trauma, and ongoing oral motor delays, she now requires her nutritional supplements to be given through a nasogastric (NG) tube however this has caused her much trauma and distress and she is now refusing food. This means she urgently needs enteral feeding equipment to continue receiving adequate nutrition. Without this, she is at serious risk of growth failure, which could further impact her overall health and developmental progress.

The need for both the nutritional supplement and feeding equipment is essential, not optional. Unfortunately, the NDIS has declined funding, and the family is under significant financial strain to provide this.
