We have over 950 high school students ranging from the age of 12 to 18 years.
One concern we have is the growing number of students without their basic needs being met at home, like cleaning bedding, toiletries, clothing, shoes etc. We see children turn up dishevelled and hungry.
School is respite for many because home is unstable. Families struggle with substance abuse and behavioural issues. Mum and dad come and go from the family home making the children's lives very unstable, often leaving the older children caring for their younger siblings.
School is their stability, but they have needs which I can't meet without your help....
Being able to provide a voucher can help as a practical short term solution but also provides a message of hope.
